What I learned about scholarly research!

Image
Good day Lombrices! Hope all is well with you all! Can you all believe Thanksgiving is nest week already? Time sure does pass by fast!      Yesterday we went to the library for my Card 101 class and learned about trustworthy research, including scholarly research!  It's pretty easy to just google questions and click on the first website that comes up, correct? We all do it, don't lie to me. Well, did you know that in order to figure out if a website or article is credible you need to run it through a check list? I'm not going to go through it all, but the main points that really stuck out to me was to make sure you can find the publisher's name! Not that a website without a publisher's name isn't useful, but having a name makes it a little more credible! Also, checking to see if a scholar journal is credible also includes seeing if the information was peer reviewed! Very interesting, right? These are the kinds of things that I didn't know about w...

What I learned about the library!

Good morning Lombrices! This will be a short post, sorry for the inconvenience!     Yesterday my Card 101 class went to the library and let's just say I feel way more comfortable in this space. At first, the library seemed so overwhelming to me because of the idea of not being able to find what I need for research, but actually learning about the different things we can use on the library's website automatically made me feel better!     I learned about how the library's website can help you with broad research and very specific research. So specific, that you can even put down under what major or minor the question relates to. That's crazy! This was information that will definitely benefit my peers and I in the future! Learning how to navigate the website in general is already a process in itself, but to be honest, I don't mind how many clicks you have to do in order to get the information you need.   Definitely excited to continue using thi...

Ideas and process for Rational Argument

Image
Good day Lombrices!       This whole week has been weird. Now approaching the end of the haunt season, I've realized how much I haven't been paying attention to my feelings, and I should probably start doing that before it turns into a huge problem. Speaking of feelings, I feel like I have very little ideas for my rational argument.       The moment the topic of finding a question came up in class, my mind kind of went blank. I could do my rational argument based on my microtheme from the beginning of the semester. It was about how we as people always try to have a perfect body and compare ourselves to this image that society put in our minds. But I feel like that topic isn't relevant to me anymore. So, I'm still left without a question.       I've been trying to find my question in relevant feelings that I have towards situations in my life. Like: Why do we call people who we're interested in romantically called crushes?...
