Good day Lombrices!

Hope your week went well!

Today I will be talking about a photo that was recently taken when I went to Illinois State Park beach about a couple weeks ago. I really enjoy looking at this photo because of how fun the backstory is. My family and I went camping to Illinois State Park, and the night I took this photo was the second to last night of our small vacation. It was around 11:00pm when I got the idea to visit the beach since it would be interesting to see the lake late at night. My parents agreed, brought a lantern (as shown below), and we took the 5-minute trail to the beach. It was probably one of the best memories I've made with my parents, and I love to look back at the laughs, the struggles to walk through the sand, and the fun we had.

This photo features a poorly lit lantern, some boats in the far distance, and the lake in the background. In the moment, I wanted to have a memory of how beautiful the beach looked at night. Now, I'm no photographer, but my intention was to capture the almost "romantic" vibe in this photo. How the lantern softly lights up the sand to a certain distance, how the lights of the boats far out in the lake somehow light up the water a little bit, and how there is still some darkness in the photo. It almost doesn't look like it was 11pm on a Saturday night. In the moment, you forget about your worries and just admire the beauty of the beach.

Just by looking at this photo I automatically think of the sayings "Always look for the light in the darkness" or "In the darkness there is light." I want people to know that even through the darkest moments in their lives, there's always a light that you should look for. Even if you feel helpless, look for that person, that memory, that thing that will help you through this rough patch. You will not be in the darkness forever. You will make it out.

It was nice writing today, hope to write more soon! Have a great rest of your weekend Lombrices! :)
