Delicate by Taylor Swift

 Good day Lombrices!

This whole week has been mentally draining. It's made me quite delicate. See what I did there? (LOL) Lately, I've been obsessed with the song Delicate by Taylor Swift...but I'm not sure why. This song is the fifth track from T-Swift's Reputation album released in November of 2017. It is about Taylor's vulnerability, and about how damaged her image is as a pop artist.  (Before she released her album, Swift was facing many backlashes from the public, from fat shaming to being publicly humiliated on the news.)

Delicate has been on my mind 24/7, from the first lyric "This ain't for the best, my reputation's never been worse, so you must like me for me" to the last lyric "isn't it delicate." The whole song just stands out to me, and I want to give my opinion about some of the lyrics and what they mean to me at the moment.

"This ain't for the best
My reputation's never been worse, so
You must like me for me"

This first verse (which is the opening verse) talks about how someone who clearly is a potential love interest for Taylor, may be reciprocating their feelings for her, and that they may not care about the rumors and false accusations that are being spread about her.  I personally can relate to this because of a personal situation that cause me to have a certain image, but it wasn't true.

"Is it cool that I said all that?
Is it chill that you're in my head?
'Cause I know that it's delicate (Delicate)"

This verse shows pure vulnerability and just describes how one is filled with all these questions once they confess something that is pretty delicate to talk about to someone they care about. (AKA your feelings for them.) Definitely relate to this! When haven't we felt this way?

"Sometimes I wonder; when you sleep
Are you ever dreaming of me?
Sometimes when I look into your eyes
I pretend you're mine, all the d*** time
'Cause I like you"

The bridge of this song really tugs at my heartstrings. Again, all these questions really do bombard your mind when you have feelings for someone. It's that anticipation of knowing what their feelings for you are, and just the overall feeling of already wanting to "claim" them as ours. (The word "claim" sounds bad, but as a human, its normal for jealousy to spike when you have feelings for someone)

Anyway, I hope you all have a great day, I'll talk to you soon!

(10/10 recommend listening to Delicate if you have the chance to!)
